God also fed the Israelites daily with manna. They had just enough for the day- no more. At the end of the day, their food was depleted. If Yahweh didn’t send manna again in the morning, they’d go hungry. It was God or nothing. They had no choice but to "trust" him!
But there came a time when Yahweh withdrew his miraculous hand and expected the Israelites to trust him anyway:
The very next day they began to eat unleavened bread and roasted grain harvested from the land. No manna appeared that day and it was never seen again. That verse makes me sad. I want to live in the midst of miracles! Yet here were these Israelites who got tired of the "daily grind" of the miraculous and wanted "regular" food again! Can you believe it? What a twist of irony!
- Joshua 5:11-12
There are times when I would just love Yahweh to express himself to us in the miraculous (all the time, I must admit)! But he’s given us his voice and expects us to live in faith of his many promises . . . until that time when the miraculous will again become the norm.
I’m trusting for the miraculous to begin right now! Anyone with me?
