Why Does DHQ Exist?

I just got an email from my soon to be Divisional Commander. The question presented was: "Why does DHQ exist?"

Not to worry- I'm sure our DHQ is not heading into non-existance. It's a good question nonetheless. I've often heard how the Corps is the front-line and therefore the most important position in our Army. But until DHQ no longer has the power to tell the corps' "what to do," it's only a bunch of empty words. If you follow the authority, you'll find the most important thing.

All snide responses aside (Man! That's tough to do!), how would YOU define the purpose of a Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters? Any takers (short sentence answers please)?

DHQ exsists to.....man this is harder than i thought.......

dhq exists......

DHQ should exsist to encourage, strengthen, support, and unite officers, soldiers and friends of the salvation army into a community of believers that extends beyond the four walls of individual corps.

As a non-Officer employee at a Canadian DHQ I have a couple of observations:

1) Our DHQ mission is to provide Christian leadership and to support ministry units and personnel in accomplishing their missions.

2)Your post mirrors the way DHQ often feels about THQ ;)

Blessings

DHQ is/should be the inner vital organs of the SA's body of Christ.

DHQ exists to resource corps and social centres in their mission to win the world for Jesus.
